Aims and Scope
Aim
The Journal of Sports, Exercise, and Performance (JOSEP) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal dedicated to advancing knowledge in sports science, exercise physiology, and human performance. The journal aims to integrate traditional approaches in sport and exercise science with emerging technologies, data-driven methodologies, and innovative analytical tools to better understand and optimize human performance and health.
JOSEP encourages multidisciplinary research that bridges physiological, biomechanical, technological, and analytical perspectives in sport and exercise science. The journal’s primary objective is to contribute to the development of evidence-based practices and scientific standards that enhance athletic performance, physical health, and training effectiveness in modern sport environments.
Scope
The journal welcomes high-quality original research articles, review papers, case studies, methodological papers, perspectives, and letters to the editor in the following thematic areas (but not limited to):
A. Exercise Physiology and Metabolism
- Acute and chronic physiological responses to exercise.
- Metabolic adaptations to training and physical activity.
- Monitoring physiological responses using modern measurement technologies.
- Physiological adaptations under different environmental conditions (e.g., altitude, cold, heat, and hypoxia).
- Cardiovascular, respiratory, and neuromuscular responses to exercise.
- Neurophysiological adaptations to exercise, the impact of physical activity on cognitive performance, and the assessment of brain activation using advanced neuroimaging techniques.
B. Training Science and Human Performance
- Training periodization and load management strategies.
- Performance monitoring and athlete development.

Publication Policy
The journal promotes scientific rigor, methodological transparency, and interdisciplinary collaboration. All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process to ensure scientific quality and ethical research standards. JOSEP is an open-access journal; all published articles are freely available worldwide without any subscription or paywall barriers. This policy aims to promote the free global exchange of scientific knowledge.
Copyright and Licensing: Authors retain their copyrights while granting the journal the right of first publication. Articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, which permits unrestricted sharing and adaptation, provided appropriate credit is given.
The Journal of Sports, Exercise, and Performance (JOSEP) is committed to ensuring the long-term digital preservation and continuous accessibility of all published scientific content. To achieve this, our journal utilizes the decentralized LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) systems for the permanent archiving of published articles.
