Publication Policy
1. Peer Review Process
To maintain the scientific quality, objectivity, and integrity of published research, the Journal of Sports, Exercise, and Performance (JOSEP) employs a double-blind peer-review system. Throughout this process, the identities of both the authors and the reviewers are kept strictly confidential.
All submitted manuscripts are initially screened by the editorial office for scope, scientific criteria, and ethical requirements. Manuscripts passing the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers in the relevant field. Based on the reviewer reports, the Editor may decide to:
Accept,
Minor Revision,
Major Revision, or
Reject the manuscript. The final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief.
2. Ethical Standards and Plagiarism Policy
JOSEP adheres to the international ethical publishing standards recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). To protect academic integrity, the following rules are strictly enforced:
- Plagiarism Check: All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software prior to the peer-review process. The maximum acceptable similarity rate is 15%.
- Originality: The work must be original and must not have been published elsewhere previously.
- Conflict of Interest: Authors are required to declare any potential financial or personal conflicts of interest.
3. Open Access and Copyrights
JOSEP is an open-access journal; all published articles are freely available worldwide without any subscription or paywall barriers. This policy aims to promote the free global exchange of scientific knowledge.
Copyright and Licensing: Authors retain their copyrights while granting the journal the right of first publication. Articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, which permits unrestricted sharing and adaptation, provided appropriate credit is given.
4. Author Responsibilities
Authors submitting their work to the journal guarantee the following:
- The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal.
- All authors have approved the final version of the work and its submission.
- Necessary Ethics Committee Approval for human or animal research has been obtained and documented.
- References and contributions are formatted in accordance with APA 7 standards.
5. Archiving and Digital Preservation Policy
The Journal of Sports, Exercise, and Performance (JOSEP) is committed to ensuring the long-term digital preservation and continuous accessibility of all published scientific content. To achieve this, our journal utilizes the decentralized LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) systems for the permanent archiving of published articles.
These systems enable the storage and distribution of journal content across participating libraries, guaranteeing that the scholarly literature remains protected and accessible to researchers worldwide, even in the highly unlikely event of an interruption on the journal's primary servers.
Article Retraction: Retraction of a published article is carried out upon the mutual request of all authors. A corresponding notice is published in the subsequent issue under the heading "RETRACTION".
Editorial Independence: The editorial board makes decisions solely on the basis of scientific validity and originality, independent of any commercial interests.
